Hazard Perception Test (Victoria)

Prepare for & Take the Hazard Perception Test Online in Melbourne

Passing the Hazard Perception Test (HPT) is a crucial step toward getting your Learner Permit or Provisional Licence. At EZ Drive Australia, we help learner drivers understand how the test works, build real hazard awareness, and approach the test with confidence.

What Is the Hazard Perception Test?

The HPT is a computer-based assessment measuring your ability to identify and respond to developing hazards. It focuses on real-world driving situations in Melbourne.

During the test, you will:

  • Watch short video clips (20-30 secs) from a driver’s perspective
  • Identify developing hazards (situations requiring speed/direction change)
  • Touch the screen as soon as you recognise the hazard

Note: Clicking too early, too late, or randomly may result in lost points.

How Do I Take the Test?

Step 1: Preparation

  • Gain supervised driving experience
  • Actively practise spotting hazards
  • Review road rules
  • Use official online practice tests
The Method: See – Think – Do
