🚘 Licence Information – Victoria
Your Step-by-Step Guide with EZ Drive Australia
Getting your Victorian driver licence is a journey that starts with the Learner Permit and progresses through to your Probationary (P) Licence. EZ Drive Australia is here to guide you through every stage, clearly and confidently.
1. Victorian Learner Permit
🪪 What You Need to Know
To obtain a Victorian Learner Permit (Car), you must:
- Be at least 16 years old
- Pass the Car Learner Permit Knowledge Test
💻 Learner Permit Test – Online or In Person
- Online coursework modules
- Online assessment tasks
- No test fee for the online option
- Must create myVicRoads account
- Sit at VicRoads service centre
- Includes a VicRoads fee
- Must study Road to Solo Driving handbook
📘 The Road to Solo Driving handbook is available: At VicRoads customer centres, selected newsagents, or as a free PDF download.
📅 Booking Your Test
Once confident, book your test online via myVicRoads or call 13 11 71.
2. Supervised Driving & Logbook
🕒 Minimum Driving Hours (Learners Under 21)
You must complete:
- 120 hours of supervised driving
- Including at least 20 hours of night driving
EZ Drive Australia provides structured lessons aligned with Victorian road rules and certifies the hours you complete with us.
We strongly recommend using the myLearners digital logbook app as it reduces errors and is less likely to be rejected. If using paper:
- Every entry must be signed
- Signatures must match supervising driver details
- Night driving must occur after sunset
- Ensure you exceed the minimum hours to allow a safety buffer
VicRoads allows logbooks to be submitted before test day. We highly recommend doing this. If your logbook is rejected on test day:
- You will not be allowed to sit the test
- You may lose your VicRoads booking fee
- You may need to rebook and wait again
3. Hazard Perception & Practical Test
⚠️ Hazard Perception Test (HPT)
Before sitting your Drive Test, you must:
- Pass the Hazard Perception Test
- Be at least 17 years and 11 months old
EZ Drive Australia provides hazard perception guidance to help you recognize hazards correctly.
🛣️ Practical Driving Test (P Licence)
To sit your Probationary (P) Licence Drive Test, you must be at least 18 years old and hold your learner permit for:
